Are you one of those people who believe the Farmer’s Almanac can predict the weather? Let’s take a look at what it says about this year’s winter forecast for western Colorado.

If the Old Farmer’s Almanac is correct, we could be in for a mild winter. It says:

Winter temperatures will be above normal, with precipitation a bit below normal.

We like the sound of that. But, December and January could be the coldest months — that’s OK, hibernating during those months is just fine with us.

If you’re wanting snow, you’ll probably have to travel north, as snowfall will be below normal this winter. Sucks if you’re a skier or snowboarder.

Prepare for a warm spring and little precipitation during the springs months. Maybe that means early mountain hikes will be possible. That being said, get ready for the next few months of hotness.

June and July will possibly be hotter than normal. How could it get hotter than the 2016 summer, which was the hottest summer on record. Add that to very little precipitation and we’re in for a somewhat miserable summer in 2017.

Luckily, fall of 2017 will be cooler with above-normal precipitation, giving us much-needed relief from melting during the summer.

Do you think the Almanac will be correct?
